ISIMIP2b GEPIC yield outputs: Anomalous values (NaN) in varying number of cells #12

issue

Jacob Schewe reported on March 23, 2022.
Anomalous values (not-a-number, NaN) were found in some of the model outputs, for both irrigated and rainfed potential yield; clustering around the Tibetan Plateau region, but also featuring some isolated NaN cells. The number and location of these cells changes over time. The following information was provided by the modeling group:

Intermittent NaNs should mostly occur in pixels with generally low temperatures, which keep the crop from maturing in most years. For mountainous regions, also an influence of soil data is not unlikely as the dominant soil in the fairly granular pixels is often very shallow and rocky, rendering crop growth feasible in the model only occasionally, e.g. in rather wet years.
