ISIMIP3: Wrong PFT-specific outputs for LPJmL5-7-10-fire #89

issue

Matthias Büchner reported on May 12, 2026.
The LPJmL team discovered a bug affecting PFT-specific outputs in *all* ISIMIP3a and ISIMIP3b simulations by LPJmL5-7-10-fire. Reported PFT areas for natural PFTs are too high in all grid cells which also contain water and/or land use areas. Consequently, PFT-specific stocks and fluxes for these PFTs are normalized to the wrong PFT areas.

Affected output variables:
cvegag-<pft>
cvegbg-<pft>
cveg-<pft>
fapar-<pft>
gpp-<pft>
npp-<pft>
pft-<pft>

Note that cvegag-total, cvegbg-total, cveg-total, fapar-total, gpp-total, and npp-total should *not* be affected by the bug.

Outputs from LPJmL in the agriculture sector are not affected either.

We are currently assessing whether the error can be fixed in post-processing without rerunning the full simulations.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this error.
